SCAFELLS SUNSET, BIRKER FELL, CUMBRIA, 2017
This image was completely unexpected. After a disappointing afternoon and evening in Wasdale, I decided to set off on the two hour drive home.
Less than half an hour later I became aware of some warm coloured light in the car mirrors. I pulled of the road as soon as possible and hurriedly set up the camera on the tripod and made three or four exposures.
Less then two minutes later - at well after 9pm - the warm light faded and darkness fell rapidly.
As pleased as I am with this image, I can't help wondering what pictures I might have got had I stayed in Wasdale just a short time longer.
